A FoMoCo Treasure
Until Buck
can provide us with a bio and/or "story" of this Tbird,
I will make a few comments here on the subject. Buck was a classmate
of my brother Delmar in high school. They graduated in 1953,
the year that I was a freshman in the same school. In 1952 Buck
had a 1936 Ford Roadster which had dual carbs, etc. and that
car was the focus of several of Buck's other classmates, including
my brother. In 1953 we were reading in "Motor Trend"
and elsewhere about the two-seater sporty car the Ford was planning
to produce. Buck wanted to buy one, but, fresh out of high school
it was difficult to find employment that would provide the money
for such a fabulous new Ford. In those days a new Thunderbird
would cost you around $4,000, when the average family income
was more like $3,500 per year. Buck told me 2 or 3 years ago
that this Tbird was available from a family member of his in
Lewiston, Idaho, but I didn't have the funds available to pursue
it at that time. So, Buck acquired the car and has been working
to make it in the best condition that he can. Hey, it is a beautiful
example of 1956 rolling art. --- Will Murray |
