Welcome to Spokane!
July 15th - 19th 2009
When you visit Spokane, it won't take you long
to realize that you have arrived someplace special. The spectacular
scenery and incredible weather make Spokane a terrific destination
to host the 2009 VTCI Northwest Regional Thunderbird -- FAMILY
REUNION. Spokane offers an abundance of activities for the
outdoor enthusiast from: hiking, skiing, mountain biking, boating,
swimming and fishing. Along with the outdoor adventures you will
be amazed to find world-class urban amenities right at your fingertips.
The city provides plenty of cultural arts, shopping, dining and
entertainment options to choose from. We promise... you will
soon discover why visitors fall in love with Spokane.
Wednesday 15th An Ice Cream Social will
click off the 2009... at 7pm in Riverfront Park (home to Expo
'74). It is a short walk from the hotel to the Forestry Pavilion.
This will be a celebration of Thunderbirds coming together to
reunite old friendships and to make new ones!
Revisit your childhood memories or create new ones when you slide
down the giant red wagon or take a spin on the Carousel! Saved
from the former Natatorium Amusement Park (Looff 3 row park machine
circa 1909)... this classic carousel has its own building in
the park. Take a ride in a gondola over Spokane Falls or just
relax and enjoy more ice cream. This will be a night of exploration
and fun!
Spokane Falls during Spring run-off, what a view from the gondolas.
Thursday 16th Enjoy the day
on your own exploring downtown Spokane; just a few steps from
your hotel door. Spend the day shopping, sightseeing or just
kick back and relax before the evening festivities get underway.
We will be attending the Inland Northwest Car Club Council Downtown
Scholarship Show, where there will be over 300 cars; customs,
classics and rods. The Thunderbirds will be showcased and a special
trophy to be awarded to a lucky family member.
Friday 17th A luncheon cruise
on breathtaking Lake Coeur d'Alene. You will have time to go
sightseeing on your own and shopping in downtown CDA before we
re-board the bus for our trip back to Spokane. You are on your
own again for the evening, so why not take a stroll down to Riverpark
Square to check out the local shops and restaurants or dance
the night away at one of the local night clubs, Spokane has something
for everyone.
