Photographing cars at a car show is always
a challenge. Problems include:
1. Photos must be taken during harsh mid-day sun.
2. Crowd of people milling around the car(s) result in more photos
of people than of cars.
3. Due to goofy show requirements, most cars have the hood open,
or worse yet, both hood and trunk. This makes the car look like
someone dressed in a tux but with their pants down.
4. Ugly signs and hand-outs plastered on the dash or windshield
make the cars look like they are on some sort of sales lot.
5. Backgrounds tend to be a dizzying array of lawn chairs, buildings,
people, and other stuff that distracts from rather than adds
to the photo.
6. The cars tend to be jammed tightly together so that it is
impossible to get a good side view.
These challenges make a photographer want to throw up their hands
and give up. Of course, if all you want is a record "I wuz
there." shot... fine, go for it. These photos were taken
in a serious attempt to show the CARS. -- WDM |
